Singer Touch and Sew: Mystery Solved!

I found it! I am so glad I took pictures of this machine when my student brought it to class last year! The Singer Touch and Sew was introduced in 1965. You can look at a 1970 version of the Golden Touch and Sew Delux Zig Sag Sewing Machine Model 750 sewing manual here (love the internet for finding things like this!) The graphics are super cool and it clearly shows the bobbin winding feature on page 7.

While researching this I discovered the google timeline and found several classified adds from the 1960s and 70s showing that this machine originally retailed for around $300. Not much has changed in fourty years!

  1. My Mom has one of these machines in full working order. She had it from new in 1965 and it is with all of its tools and disks for the embroidery. As she is now 80 and continues to sew the family have put together to buy her a new modern one for her birthday and she is now selling her touch and sew. It has worked like a workhorse all these years.

  2. Thankyou so much for the info. I inherited my Mom's, and she was a wonderful sewer. Me?, not so much. Unfortunately, I have lost/misplaced the instructions for her machine and it is identical to this one. It has a repair bill taped inside of the lid for a repair in 1978, on the repair bill it has model 750. My printer is out of commission right now, but hopefully this info will stay on site for the next few weeks until I can get it printed. I was so happy to find this, what did we ever do before internet? Thankyou once again, you have no idea how much this means to me!
